Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania was admitted to a Pittsburgh hospital early Thursday after collapsing during a morning walk near his residence in Braddock. According to his office, the episode stemmed from a flare-up of ventricular fibrillation — an abnormal heart rhythm — which caused him to feel light-headed and fall, striking his face and sustaining minor injuries.
Medical staff determined the incident was not caused by a stroke or seizure, but elected to keep Fetterman under observation and adjust his medication as a precaution. His team described him as “doing well” and thanked the medical responders and hospital staff involved in his care.
This event adds to a series of health challenges for Fetterman, who in 2022 suffered a stroke linked to atrial fibrillation and cardiomyopathy. He remains in the hospital, undergoing routine monitoring and treatment fine-tuning.
