A statement from his office on Saturday said that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who fell and was taken to the hospital, received inpatient physical therapy and is now back at home.

McConnell had a concussion and a small rib fracture after falling at a reception for the Senate Leadership Fund three weeks before. He was 81 years old at the time. After five days in the hospital, his doctor suggested he go to a place where he could stay and get better.

I would want to thank everyone for their kind remarks. McConnell put out a message on Saturday saying that he was happy to be done with inpatient physical therapy. My therapists have told me that I should spend the next several days working from home in my pajamas to help the people of Kentucky and the Republican Conference. My team and I talk to each other all the time. I want to go back to the Senate as soon as possible.

McConnell’s assistant told POLITICO that the senator won’t be back in Washington on April 3, when the Senate goes on a two-week break. The worker went on to explain that he planned to talk to physical therapists before choosing when he can go back to work.

After being taken to George Washington University Medical Center in Washington, D.C., McConnell is “doing well,” according to the staff there. Senators from the Republican party said that their minority leader is eager to go back to work.

Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) remarked of McConnell after they talked on the phone, “He sounded very sharp.” He added, “As you could guess, I’m simply upset that I have to go through all this. I urged him not to rush since we’re not doing anything here.”

Due to problems with his balance caused by polio, McConnell hurt his shoulder in 2019 when he was at home in Kentucky.

John Fetterman of Pennsylvania and Dianne Feinstein of California, both Democrats in the Senate, were recently sent to the hospital, and now McConnell has joined them.

Feinstein stated in a statement that on March 2, she went to a hospital in San Francisco to get treatment for shingles. She’s reported to have gone home and is now taking it easy there.

Fetterman went to the hospital on the evening of February 15 after getting advise from the doctor who takes care of the United States Congress. He was showing indications of being quite depressed. NBC said Fetterman may have to stay in the hospital for a while. Joe Calvello, a spokeswoman for Fetterman, said in a statement on Thursday that Schumer will be freed “over a week but soon.” “The senator is getting better very quickly,” Calvello said.
