Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina has delivered a strong message to Mark Robinson, the state’s GOP gubernatorial candidate, following allegations linking him to a pornography scandal. Tillis stated that Robinson owes an explanation, particularly to former President Donald Trump and the Republican Party. He urged Robinson to either take legal action if the allegations are false or take accountability if they are true.
The allegations stem from a report claiming that Robinson was involved with a pornographic website, “Nude Africa,” from 2008 to 2012. On the site, Robinson is alleged to have made explicit comments about voyeurism and referred to himself as a “Black Nazi,” while also showing interest in transgender pornography. These claims surfaced just as the state’s gubernatorial race heats up, with North Carolina being a crucial swing state.
Robinson, the current Lieutenant Governor of North Carolina, has denied the allegations, calling them “tabloid trash” in a video statement posted on social media. He dismissed the claims as attempts by political opponents to shift focus from substantive issues to scandalous distractions. Despite the scandal, Robinson has vowed to continue his campaign.
North Carolina remains a pivotal battleground as the 2024 elections approach, with razor-thin margins likely to determine the outcome. Former President Trump narrowly won the state in 2020, and the latest polls indicate another close race.
