A heavily armed man was shot and killed after opening fire on U.S. Border Patrol agents outside a federal annex building in McAllen, Texas. The early morning attack targeted the Rio Grande Valley Sector facility, where the gunman, clad in tactical gear and wielding an assault rifle, unleashed a barrage of bullets toward the front entrance.

Border Patrol agents, assisted by local law enforcement, responded immediately, returning fire and neutralizing the suspect at the scene. The attacker was identified as a 27-year-old Michigan resident who had been reported missing earlier that day.

Three individuals were injured in the exchange—two Border Patrol agents and a McAllen police officer—none of whom sustained life-threatening injuries.

Authorities later recovered multiple weapons, ammunition, and disturbing writings from the gunman’s vehicle, suggesting a premeditated assault. Federal agencies are now leading a full investigation to determine motive and possible connections.
