Special Counsel Weiss’s ‘Unprecedented’ Testimony on Hunter Biden

The Justice Department announced that Special Counsel David Weiss will answer questions on his thorough Hunter Biden probe in an extraordinary transcribed interview with the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday morning.

Weiss, who is investigating the President’s son, has volunteered to speak behind closed doors before the House Judiciary Committee at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Wyn Hornbuckle, Special Counsel Weiss’ spokesperson, said, “Weiss is voluntarily testifying before the House Judiciary Committee on his power. Mr. Weiss is willing to appear before the end of his inquiry to demonstrate that he has full authority over his investigation and can pursue charges in any jurisdiction.”

Hornbuckle added, “Department protocol and the law prevent him from discussing his investigation. Special Counsel Weiss will submit a report, which the Attorney General will make public as much as practicable in accordance with the law, department policy, and the public interest.”

For months, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, has negotiated with the Justice Department to have Weiss and other Biden probe federal prosecutors testify. On October 11, Jordan asked Weiss to meet with the committee.

The DOJ had offered Weiss for public testimony in July.

Weiss was designated special counsel by Attorney General Merrick Garland in August to oversee the Biden inquiry and any associated matters.

Weiss, the Delaware U.S. attorney, has led the Biden investigation since 2018. Allegations that politics may have influenced prosecution decisions throughout the lengthy inquiry of the President’s son led to his nomination as special counsel.

In his first action as special counsel, Weiss charged Biden with making a false statement about buying a gun, concerning information a federal firearms licensee must keep, and one count of possession by a controlled substance user.

The President’s son pleaded not guilty last month. Our inquiry into the President’s son continues, Weiss said.

While House Republicans investigate President Biden’s impeachment, Weiss will be interviewed.
