A New Jersey bar has canceled an upcoming performance by the Bruce Springsteen tribute band “No Surrender” following backlash over the rock icon’s recent criticism of former President Donald Trump.
The venue, located in Toms River, pulled the plug on the event, citing concerns from patrons after Springsteen’s political comments during his European tour. The owner stated that the decision was driven by the community’s reaction, explaining that he didn’t want to risk alienating regular customers.
Although the band offered to remove Springsteen’s songs from their setlist to continue with the show, the bar declined, citing business reasons and a desire to avoid further controversy.
“No Surrender” quickly secured a new venue and will now perform on the same night at the Headliner Oasis in Neptune City, reassuring fans the show will go on despite the political fallout.
