A major legal ruling has ordered Starbucks to pay $50 million in damages to a customer who suffered severe burns from a hot drink served at one of its locations. The decision comes after a lengthy legal battle in which the plaintiff argued that the beverage was excessively hot and improperly handled, leading to significant injuries.

According to court documents, the customer sustained second-degree burns when the drink spilled, causing prolonged medical treatment and lasting effects. The lawsuit claimed that the company failed to implement adequate safety measures to prevent such incidents.

Starbucks representatives maintained that the company adheres to industry standards for serving hot beverages. However, the court ruled in favor of the plaintiff, citing negligence in handling and serving the drink.

Legal experts suggest that this ruling could set a precedent for future cases involving hot beverage-related injuries. Meanwhile, Starbucks has yet to confirm whether it plans to appeal the decision.
