Stephen Colbert Finds New Role After “The Late Show” Cancellation

Comedian and former Late Show host Stephen Colbert has signed on to host a new live primetime talk program on a major cable news channel. The upcoming show is set to premiere in fall 2025 and marks Colbert’s return to nightly television following the cancellation of his long-running CBS tenure earlier this year.

According to internal sources, the network is banking on Colbert’s signature balance of humor and political commentary to energize its audience during a critical election year. The new program will air weeknights and feature interviews, monologues, and topical segments focused on national affairs.

While details about the format remain under wraps, colleagues suggest the revamped project aims to strike a sharper tone than Colbert’s previous work, with heightened immediacy and reduced pre-recorded content. Producers say the show will engage live viewer feedback, direct-to-camera commentary, and stream across digital platforms simultaneously.

Colbert, 60, finished his final Late Show broadcast in early 2025, drawing high praise for his signature humor and civility. His new commitment represents a fresh chapter for both the entertainer and the network seeking to leverage his visibility and credibility in a crowded media field.

With negotiations said to be finalized, promotion is expected to ramp up later in the summer—making this one of the most anticipated late-night revivals in recent memory.
