Bestselling author Stephen King has issued a public apology after claiming Charlie Kirk had “advocated stoning gays to death.” King deleted the post in question and said he was wrong to make that assertion, explaining he had misinterpreted a past remark made by Kirk and failed to verify the information beforehand.
King clarified that his criticism was aimed at how some individuals quote selected Bible verses without context. He expressed regret for the mistake and promised it would not happen again.
The comment drew swift backlash from various public figures, who demanded corrections and defended Kirk’s record on LGBTQ inclusion. Following the uproar, King also condemned the assassination of Kirk.
