Stephen King Trashes Trump and Musk After Declaring X “Too Toxic”

Stephen King, a well-known author, has unexpectedly returned to X, formerly known as Twitter, rekindling his public conflict with tech tycoon Elon Musk and former President Donald Trump. King, who had earlier declared his intention to leave the platform due to his worries about its trajectory under Musk’s control, reappeared with a series of negative messages directed at both individuals.

King recently called Trump a “danger to democracy” and attacked him for his political rhetoric and ideas. Additionally, he attacked Musk directly, saying the billionaire was utilizing X as a forum for radical ideas and false information.

King’s return follows his decision to quit the platform last year, which he made in response to what he called a deterioration in discourse and the spread of contentious material. Despite his prior statements, it appears from his most recent remarks that he is still involved in the online political discussion.

Musk, who has previously argued with King over things like free speech and platform regulations, reacted in his usual contemptuous way, as if the author’s fresh remarks had not changed his mind. King’s posts, however, have sparked a new round of discussion among his supporters. While some have praised his candor, others have questioned his choice to return to a platform that he had publicly denounced.

The conversation demonstrates the persistent conflicts between well-known public personalities and the changing landscape of social media conversation, where even individuals who make a commitment to withdraw are frequently dragged back into the conflict.
