The distressing new video of conservative commentator Steven Crowder urging his pregnant wife to “f-king watch it” as he rants at her for not completing “wifely” things as he directs her was “misleadingly edited,” Crowder claimed on Friday.
Journalist Yashar Ali posted the Ring video on his Substack on Thursday, depicting an argument just before what the YouTuber describes as a “horrendous divorce.”
In spite of Crowder’s abuse, his wife, Hilary, insists that they have a future together and that she is “committed” to him.
”I adore you… One time she warned him, “Your abuse is sick,” and he only said, “Watch it.” Check it out. As in, “F-king look at it!”
After the fact, Crowder allegedly claimed that he had threatened his wife with physical harm by telling her, “I will f-k you up.”
In the beginning of the nearly 3-minute video from June 2021, a smoking Crowder yells at a heavily pregnant Hilary about not respecting the “boundaries” he had established. Hilary is 8 months along with their twins.
He stops his wife from leaving by saying, “You can’t take the car.” I’m going to go buy the groceries if you don’t behave like a wife.
His wife, clearly disturbed, explains softly that they don’t need food and offers to go out and fetch whatever he might need.
Even still, the famous person laments, “I can’t go to the gym. I have to stay here and work. I have been unable to contact my pals. Hilary, consider how confined I am because of you.
While his wife appears to be taking deep breaths in an attempt to contain her tears, the internet star explains, “The only way out of this is discipline and respect.”
For the second time, Hilary offers to do the grocery shopping for her husband while telling him, “I love you very much, but I need some space.”
Crowder snaps back cruelly, “I don’t love you, and that’s the big problem.”
“And the truth is, when I say, ‘Look, I need you to do A, B, C, and D,’ you should be disciplined about it, but you say, ‘No,'” he moaned, imploring her to “become worthy, wife worthy.”
‘I adore you. Crowder’s wife assures him, “I’m committed to you.” To which Crowder retorts, “Put on some gloves.” Do you want to go through with those plans? … Put on some gloves and take the dogs out for a stroll.
He asks, “Are you committed enough to get the medication?” in reference to the treatment for the dogs that Hilary was afraid might be harmful to pregnant women, as described in the article.
After the couple went inside the house and Crowder realized he had gone too far, he reportedly said “f-k you up” on an audio recording, according to Ali. It was still a major factor in his wife filing for divorce a few months later.
Crowder “chose not to be with his wife during the birth of their twin children,” Hilary’s family told Ali. Hilary had given birth to their twins in August 2021.
For years, the family alleged, “Hilary tried to save her marriage by concealing Steven’s mental and emotional abuse from friends and family.”
Crowder, perhaps most famous for a meme depicting him at his desk with the words “Change my mind,” discussed the clip on Twitter on Friday.
A broken marriage is an unpleasant thing to see. There are awful things that happen in them, and I would never pretend differently,” the leader admitted. “Recent misleadingly edited leaks to the tabloid press, without context and not subject to court consequences… well, if not privacy, then the next best thing is the truth.”
“Therefore, I moved today that all records pertaining to the judicial record be made available to the public. Depositions, financial documents, medical records (including any information pertaining to mental health), and any motions for penalties filed in Texas state court.
Furthermore, Crowder stated that he would “NOT tell the press about private marriage information, but if the privacy agreements aren’t followed by all parties, I will talk about that next week in full context as a matter of irrefutable legal record.”
This week on “Louder With Crowder,” he discussed his “horrendous divorce” and implied that his enemies were using it to shame and financially exploit him.
“It’s been the most heartbreaking experience of my life,” he added, calling the breakup “my deepest personal failure.”
A divorce is terrible, in my opinion, since children need both of their parents. I still believe that divorce is awful and that children need both of their parents.
However, he criticized the current legal system, saying, “But in today’s legal system, my beliefs don’t matter,” in reference to Texas’s rules that allowed his wife to leave without providing evidence of her wrongdoing.
He admitted, “It’s my fault and mine alone… I made a mistake when I married her in 2012.
