Steven Tyler, the iconic lead singer of Aerosmith, has suffered vocal cord damage following the band’s concert in New York. This has forced the group to postpone several upcoming shows on their farewell tour.
Tyler took to the band’s social media platforms to share the news, stating that he had received strict doctor’s orders not to sing for the next thirty days. The injury to his vocal cords occurred during Saturday’s show and led to subsequent bleeding, prompting the need for rest and the postponement of tour dates.
The rescheduled tour dates include stops in Detroit, Chicago, Washington, D.C., Toronto, Raleigh, and Cleveland. All previously purchased tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates, with refunds available for those unable to attend.
This setback comes as Aerosmith embarked on their “Peace Out” farewell tour, which began in Philadelphia at the beginning of September with 40 shows scheduled on the calendar.
Tyler’s health has been a concern for the band in recent years. In December 2022, Aerosmith canceled the final two shows of their Las Vegas residency due to medical advice. In May, they announced the cancellation of their Las Vegas residency dates in June and July because of Tyler’s relapse and entry into a treatment program.
In addition to health issues, Tyler is facing a sexual assault lawsuit filed against him by Julia Misley, who has accused the singer-songwriter of sexual assault, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Tyler has denied these allegations in a response filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.
