A 25-year-old former student of University of Delaware was taken into custody after police found a cache of weapons in his vehicle and a notebook outlining plans for a planned attack — including references to “martyrdom.”
Officers stopped the man, identified as Luqmaan Khan, late on November 24 after spotting him parked suspiciously in a closed public park near Wilmington. Inside his pickup they discovered a handgun modified to function as a semi-automatic rifle, multiple high-capacity magazines, and body armor.
A subsequent search of his home uncovered even more weaponry: a scoped rifle, an additional pistol illegally converted to fully automatic, extra ammunition, tactical gear, and extended magazines. None of the firearms were legally registered.
Investigators said the handwritten notes found in the vehicle included detailed diagrams of the campus police headquarters, planned assault routes, escape strategies, and repeated notations advocating mass violence. Authorities believe the attack was aimed at the campus police department.
Khan is now held in federal custody on weapons-related charges. Law enforcement officials said their quick response likely prevented a serious tragedy.
