Subpoenas Issued to Brennan, Strzok & Page in Trump-Russia Origins Probe

A federal grand jury affiliated with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Florida has issued subpoenas to former CIA Director John Brennan, former FBI Agent Peter Strzok, and ex-FBI attorney Lisa Page as part of an investigation into the origins of the 2016 Trump–Russia probe.

Law-enforcement sources say the grand jury is expected to issue as many as 30 subpoenas in the coming days focused on the intelligence and law-enforcement community’s handling of the “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation. Brennan, Strzok, and Page were served with subpoenas last Friday and are required to provide documents, testimonies, or both.

The probe examines whether intelligence assessments and investigative decisions in 2016 and 2017 met legal standards or were influenced by political motivations. Previously declassified records show Brennan oversaw an assessment that included language about alleged Russian interference in the 2016 election, and those records are now drawing renewed scrutiny.

Strzok, who opened the original FBI counterintelligence investigation, and Page, who worked on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team, are being questioned about internal communications, decision-making processes, and their interactions with political actors. Prosecutors are reportedly reviewing emails, internal memos, and drafts of intelligence assessments to evaluate potential abuse of process or false statements.

No charges have yet been announced; the investigation remains ongoing and under seal.
