Supreme Court Backs Trump Move to End Humanitarian Parole for 500,000 Migrants

The Trump administration has been granted permission by the Supreme Court to revoke humanitarian parole protections for over 500,000 migrants, a significant legal victory that will significantly alter the nation’s immigration policy.

The decision enables the federal government to commence the process of terminating parole status for migrants from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela. The program, which was established during the Biden administration, permitted migrants with sponsors in the United States to enter the country legally for a period of up to two years.

The program was allegedly implemented without congressional sanction and was unauthorized, according to the Trump administration. The termination was initially obstructed by a lower court; however, the Supreme Court’s most recent decision has lifted this restriction, thereby allowing the new directive to be enforced.

Notifications will be issued to migrants who are affected by the change, and those who lack alternative legal status may be subject to deportation proceedings. The Department of Homeland Security has verified that preparations are currently in progress to implement the policy change.

Reinforcing the Trump administration’s stricter approach to border control and legal entry programs, this represents a substantial reversal of a high-profile immigration initiative.
