Recent field research conducted at the “No Kings” protest in Washington, D.C. suggests the majority of demonstrators were white, college-educated women around the age of 44. Among respondents, approximately 86 % identified as white and 57 % as female. Nearly nine out of ten identified across the political spectrum as left-leaning.
Psychotherapist Jonathan Alpert, who reviewed the data, described the gathering as a form of “group therapy” more than a broad, ideologically diverse movement. He noted that while the overall event drew millions across the country, the data from the capital point to a narrower demographic representation than often portrayed.
The findings add depth to understanding the protest base at the time of national demonstrations, indicating that organizers and observers should consider how demographic composition aligns with messaging, recruitment and turnout dynamics.
