Tyler Robinson, 22, allegedly confessed via Discord chat to assassinating Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, sending the message: “It was me at UVU yesterday. I’m sorry for all of this.” The message reportedly went to a small private group hours before he was arrested following a 33-hour manhunt.
Robinson is now being held without bail in Utah on preliminary charges including aggravated murder, weapon violations, and obstruction of justice. Authorities say one of his family members alerted investigators after seeing Robinson’s image in released surveillance photos, which led to his arrest.
Among the evidence gathered are engraved bullet casings, a bolt-action rifle believed to be used in the shooting, and digital communication records. Officials are exploring whether ideological influences, online subculture, or associations played a role in Robinson’s actions.
The confession and supporting forensic data have become central in the case as investigators work to clarify motive, intent, and any potential collaborators.
