Tyler James Robinson, 22, has been arrested for the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, which occurred during a Utah Valley University event. On stage, Kirk had just spoken positively about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints—saying he admired Mormon missionary work and politeness—before he was fatally shot. Robinson, who was raised Mormon, allegedly carried out the attack moments after those remarks.
Neighbors described Robinson as a well-behaved and academically promising youth, once involved in the church. Investigators say Kirk’s praise appeared on video just minutes before the shot was fired.
The Latter-day Saints Church issued a statement condemning violence, underscoring its teachings of compassion and neighborly love. Robinson faces charges including aggravated murder and is being held without bail.
