Nehls claims that Swalwell knows a Chinese spy.
On Wednesday, during a heated hearing regarding the plight of unaccompanied minors at the southern border, Representatives Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) and Troy Nehls (R-Texas) exchanged words. Democratic Congressman Eric Swalwell questioned a Republican witness on her behavior on January 6, 2021, prompting Nehls to remark on Swalwell’s “checkered past.”
Hearings were held on the subject of “Biden Border Crisis: Exploitation of Unaccompanied Alien Children” by the House Judiciary’s Subcommittee on Immigration Integrity, Security, and Enforcement. Recent reports have focused on the thousands of unaccompanied migrant children who allegedly were forced into prostitution or other forms of servitude.
Swalwell switched gears and began asking the witness about her schedule and whereabouts on January 6; more particularly, whether or not she was in the Capitol building at the time of the event.
Swalwell, a Democrat, asked several in-depth questions before time ran out, prompting Nehls to apologize sincerely to the witness.
It’s why people say something like, “You’re here for an immigration case, but they don’t want to talk about immigration.”Mr. Swalwell is probably going to show up. He asserted that everyone knows about his negative reputation and the things he has uttered.
Swalwell expressed regret by simply saying, “I’m sorry.” Rough beginnings?”
According to Nehls, “My time has come.” encounters, fictional or otherwise, with Yum Yum.
Swalwell scolded him in a reprimanding tone, telling him, “No, no, no.” Not even close to being true. In no way is this appropriate.
Nehls appeared to be making a reference to Christine Fang, also known as Fang Fang, the alleged Chinese spy. Despite being alerted by the FBI in 2015, sources in 2020 claim that Fang continued to engage with Swalwell and even assisted in placing an intern in his office. He cut off all contact with her after that, and he was cleared of wrongdoing, as reported by Axios.
Swalwell made time on a January broadcast of “The View” to express gratitude for his help to a viewer.
As stated by Swalwell, “First of all, and you don’t have to take my word for it, just listen to what the FBI says… when I found out who she was… “I did everything I felt everyone would do, which was to collaborate with and with the FBI, and she was taken away.”
He then said, “And Donald Trump, who would find out about this when he was president and had more access to classified information than anyone else, would have shown any wrongdoing to embarrass me.” This was after the president had called him a number of slurs.
His Republican critics, however, usually bring up his association with Fang. During a hearing before the House Homeland Security Committee this week, Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene referred to Democratic Representative Eric Swalwell as “someone who had a sexual relationship with a Chinese spy.”
The Democrats sought again on Wednesday to have Nehls’ remarks expunged from the recording. New York Democrat Jerry Nadler requested this in order to have his criticism of another member of Congress expunged from the record.
When he continued, Swalwell admonished, “You don’t get to say that, pal.”
There was a moment of stillness before someone asked if Nehls would retract his prior comments.
“Yes. Substitute the following for the incorrect phrase: And then he said, “This is the same person who was kicked off the Intelligence Committee,” referring to Kevin McCarthy’s decision in January as House Speaker to remove Swalwell off the Intelligence Committee. Swalwell blamed Republicans for the incident and labeled it “political vengeance.”
