Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, may be on the verge of losing her representation by the prestigious talent agency William Morris Endeavor (WME), as per insights from royal commentator Angela Levin. This development arises amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding Omid Scobie’s latest book release.
Markle, who teamed up with WME’s CEO Ari Emanuel and his group in April, has hinted at various “exciting” ventures. However, Levin, speaking on GB News, indicated that WME is deeply concerned about the impact Scobie’s book might have on Markle’s efforts to reshape her public image. “WME expressed they were ‘horrified’ by the book’s revelations. This isn’t just about the figures named in the book; it’s more about their client, Meghan,” Levin explained.
Levin suggests that reignited debates on royal family dynamics and racial issues could hamper Markle’s aspirations in the entertainment industry. “Meghan has to tread cautiously. Numerous individuals have distanced themselves from her. The agency has advised her to refrain from lamenting, as the public’s patience is wearing thin,” Levin remarked.
She added that this could make it challenging for Markle to achieve the desired level of fame and adulation. “Meghan is someone who constantly seeks public adoration,” Levin commented.
Inquiries for responses have been sent to both WME and representatives for Markle by The Post.
The controversy pivots on the Dutch edition of Scobie’s book, “Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy’s Fight for Survival,” which allegedly identified King Charles and Kate Middleton as the royals who questioned the skin tone of Markle’s son, Archie. Following its release, the book was rapidly withdrawn from circulation in the Netherlands.
While the royal family has remained silent on these allegations, Scobie attributed the issue to a “translation error” by the publisher, a claim contested by the book’s Dutch translator.
Experts have called on the Sussexes to break their silence and defend Charles and Kate, advice they have chosen to overlook. In a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Harry and Markle initially revealed that members of the royal family had speculated on Archie’s skin color before his birth. “It was an awkward and shocking conversation, one I’m not willing to share,” Harry disclosed to Winfrey.
In another perspective, Paul Burrell, former butler to the late Princess Diana, described Scobie’s book as a disruptive influence within the royal family.
