Target Reveals New ‘Pride’ Collection For Babies And Kids

Target recently unveiled its latest “Pride” collection, featuring an extensive range of products and accessories for infants and toddlers, including clothing and books. The collection also includes adult clothing with slogans such as “Queer Queer Queer Queer,” a bright green boilersuit, and a hoodie with the words “Not A Phase.” Additionally, the brand offers children’s clothing, such as onesies, tees with slogans like “Bien Proud” and “Just Be You and Feel the Love,” as well as rainbow-hued leggings, tutu skirts, and jumpers. Other items available include bibs, sandals, swimwear, LGBTQ-themed socks, cat scratching posts, chew toys, treats, leashes, and collars.

However, Target’s “Pride” collections have faced criticism in the past for offering breast binders, packing underwear, and other products aimed at self-identified transgender individuals. This has led to anger from conservative lawmakers and activists who seek to ban LGBTQ-themed materials, including books that promote transgender activism, from public schools and libraries.

Despite the controversy, Target continues to offer publications such as “Bye Bye Binary,” which encourages children to embrace what they love, and “The Pronoun Book,” which introduces various pronouns to readers of all ages. The American Library Association reports that the number of challenges to “censor library books” has almost doubled between 2021 and 2022, with 58% of challenges targeting school libraries and 41% targeting public libraries.

While companies like Target and Anheuser-Busch face criticism and backlash for their “Pride” campaigns, their efforts are vital in promoting inclusivity and diversity, especially for historically marginalized groups like the LGBTQIA+ community and people of color.
