A New Mexico man is facing federal charges after allegedly setting fire to a Tesla dealership and the Republican Party headquarters in two separate attacks that investigators are calling deliberate and politically charged.
Authorities say the suspect, Jamison Wagner, first targeted a Tesla facility in February, torching two vehicles and leaving spray-painted messages that appeared to express hatred toward the company and its CEO. Weeks later, a second fire erupted at the state GOP headquarters, where similarly hostile graffiti was found, linking the two incidents.
Law enforcement recovered surveillance footage and physical evidence that reportedly tied Wagner to both crime scenes. Items discovered at his home, including incendiary materials and paint cans matching the graffiti, led to his arrest.
Officials are treating the case as an act of domestic terrorism, noting the coordinated nature of the attacks and the suspect’s apparent ideological motives. No injuries were reported, but both properties suffered extensive damage.
The case has sparked renewed concern over politically driven violence and threats against public and private institutions. Wagner could face decades in prison if convicted on the full range of charges.
