A Democratic congressional hopeful in Texas is facing fierce criticism for appearing in a “bloody Trump” Halloween costume shortly after a fatal shooting at a Dallas ICE facility.
Republican critics argue the costume reflects a tone of hostility that fuels political violence—especially in light of the deadly incident, in which law enforcement and immigration agencies were targeted. A GOP spokesman called the display emblematic of years of left-wing rhetoric demonizing ICE and law enforcement more broadly.
The candidate, Bobby Pulido, defended the outfit as political satire and said it was not meant to incite violence. He also emphasized that he condemns all criminal acts, including the Dallas shooting.
Pulido’s campaign insists the visuals were symbolic and part of broader political expression. Nonetheless, rivals in both parties are now spotlighting the controversy as evidence of the risks of overheated messaging in today’s partisan climate.
