The ‘Civil War’ Between Ron DeSantis and Donald Trump: An Answer from the Republican Candidate

On Wednesday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis dismissed rumors of a “civil war building” between himself and former President Donald Trump over the Republican Party’s candidacy for president in 2024.

In Matlacha, Florida, while speaking with authorities on the state’s recovery efforts following Hurricane Ian, DeSantis made the comments in answer to a question.

“This election is over; it’s over, right?” To quote DeSantis: Everyone needs to take a deep breath and relax about a few things. We just had an election, people. This runoff in Georgia is crucial for the Republican Party.

After noting that “it was not so brilliant in many other parts of the country,” he elaborated, “I mean, I know throughout the country, Florida was kind of the largest shining spot.” “Given the dynamics at play, it was a below-par effort.”

DeSantis said that he was re-elected as governor of Florida due to his dedication to leading by example and producing positive outcomes for the state’s citizens.

DeSantis, who was re-elected last week following a landslide victory over his Democratic opponent Charlie Crist, said he wasted no time going back to work.

“So ultimately, I believe what we proved in Florida is just deliver results, lead with conviction,” he added. Forget surveys and reading the tea leaves; I’ve always done what seemed right in my own eyes. But the election provides us the chance to keep providing results. This is why we will not pause in our efforts to provide the best service possible. And that, to me, is really important.

But, he said, “what I think Florida has proven is that you look at all the difficulties that the country is facing with the inflation, the open border, all these various things, a lot of failures.” “Florida is evidence that you can get the major things right; you can get things right,” he said.

He closed his response by adding he was thinking about how to keep his state at the forefront of the American administration.

“You know, the beautiful thing about winning a significant victory is that we have super majorities in the legislature now, and frankly, I think we have an opportunity to sustain terrific momentum,” he remarked.
