The House GOP is considering a lawsuit against the ex-Twitter attorney who allegedly buried the Hunter story, so keep an eye out for it.

The top Republican in the House assured the public that they would exhaust “all measures at their disposal” in their investigation.

House Republican leaders hinted on Wednesday that they would sue James Baker, a former Twitter, and FBI attorney, over his role in suppressing media coverage of Hunter Biden’s laptop in 2020.

Fox News Digital has reportedly asked prospective House Republican leaders who could take office in January 2019 if they intend to take legal action or issue subpoenas in response to recent headlines regarding Baker. Elon Musk, Twitter’s CEO, revealed on Tuesday that Baker was “exited” from the company for withholding information.

Asked by email what legal action the Committee will pursue, a Republican on the House Judiciary Committee said, “Stay tuned.”

Independent journalist Matt Taibbi revealed business conversations on Twitter just months before the 2020 presidential election by publishing private photographs and chats from President Biden’s son Hunter Biden’s laptop last week.

After the New York Post published a story on October 14, 2020, highlighting information from the laptop and saying, “it’s reasonable for us to assume that they may have been and caution is warranted,” Twitter’s deputy general counsel, Baker, sent an email saying the company needed “more facts to assess whether the materials were hacked.” In June of the following year, Baker signed up for a social networking site.

After Republicans realized the disclosure could swing the election, they banned the New York Post from Twitter for two weeks to bury the news.

Baker worked for the FBI as its general counsel before joining Twitter. During the 2016 presidential election, he played a crucial role in the FBI’s investigation into possible ties between Trump’s campaign and the Russian government.

Any former or current FBI agents should be held accountable for their tweets. The FBI, on the other hand, “leading Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, tweeted as much on Wednesday.

To that end, Kentucky Republican and House Oversight and Reform Committee Chair James Comer wrote to Baker on Tuesday to extend an invitation to appear before the Committee during the 116th Congress. The letter references Baker’s suspected involvement in covering up the theft of a laptop.

After questions from Comer’s staff concerning the rationale for suppression were sent to Twitter, Comer said the company should explain why it had removed the article about Hunter Biden’s laptop. The Committee is looking into Twitter’s decision to block content relating to a presidential candidate, and the letter indicates that your testimony provides “important context” for the probe.

If Baker refuses to testify before the Committee, Comer’s spokesman said the ranking member would first invite Baker to testify.

Hopefully, he’ll show up to the public hearing requested by the Oversight Committee, “the official told Fox News Digital. The Committee will use “all tools at its disposal” to ensure his appearance to provide the American people with transparency.

Tuesday, Comer sent letters to Yoel Roth, formerly the global head of trust and safety at Twitter, and Vijaya Gadde, formerly Twitter’s chief legal officer.

Before the election in November, Comer and other Republicans said they would prioritize a probe into Hunter Biden if they won control of the House.

Currently, the chairs of the House Judiciary Committee and the House Oversight Committee have the authority to sign or issue a warrant and issue subpoenas, as stated in a study by the Congressional Research Service.

Baker still needs to respond to our request for a remark, which is disappointing.
