In an appearance on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity” on Tuesday, Republican San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond blasted the “hypocrisy” of the Biden administration, saying that migrants are being delivered to San Diego County even though their shelters are full. At the same time, the governors of Texas and Florida have been criticized for transporting migrants to other cities.
Desmond said, “Well, the Border Patrol has delivered roughly a thousand asylum-seekers to transit centers in San Diego County over the previous four days. The situation has left them bewildered. No plane tickets or knowledge of public transit means they can contact loved ones. They’re just going to be dumped off. The Border Patrol can only keep them locked up for so long. We can no longer accept any more refugees at this time. There’s no more room here; we’ve reached maximum occupancy. This leads to people being abandoned at major transportation nodes with a simple “good luck” and a wave before being sent on their way. Or, to put it another way, the irony or hypocrisy of it… Administration officials have attacked Abbott and DeSantis for allegedly directing illegal immigrants to “sanctuary cities.” The government leaves them stranded at significant transit hubs without giving them with means of getting about or funds to pay for rides. They’re currently tossing them through the air. Still, it’s heartening to know that many of them can integrate into other families or start their own. Although it’s not a good idea everywhere, leaving kids at bus stops in San Diego County is especially bad.
