Everyone is making Jacob Blake to be a victim and I suppose he is if you consider Hitler a victim. Or Stalin a victim . Or Bernie Madoff is a victim. So, in order to understand the entire episode, you need to know the background first. Even before that day, there was a warrant out for him for raping the same woman whose house he was at that day.
There was a restraining order against him, forbidding him to be at the home he was at that day. He showed up drunk and said he was there to get his stuff. He digitally penetrated her, sniffed his fingers and said that she had been with other men.
On the day he was shot, he had put a police officer in a headlock, shrugged off two taser blasts and was in possession of a knife that he told the police he had. When he walked around his car and reached into the car from the driver’s side is when he got shot. They found his knife on the driver’s side on the floor.
You have to sympathize with the police officer. He didn’t want Blake lunging at him with his knife and he probably did not want to have to shoot, but self preservation is a very strong human emotion.
Blake, who was paralyzed in the shooting, had been handcuffed to his hospital bed due to the warrant, which was vacated Friday, according to a statement released by his lawyer, Benjamin Crump. His restraints were removed, but he is still facing the criminal charges, Crump said.
Blake is accused in the criminal complaint, which was obtained by The Post, of breaking into the home of a woman he knew and sexually assaulting her.
