A Black Friday shopping rush turned chaotic at Westfield Valley Fair Mall in Santa Clara when gunfire erupted, leaving three people wounded.
Police say the incident began with an argument between two individuals near one of the mall’s stores. The confrontation escalated quickly when one person pulled out a gun and opened fire. A teenage girl and a woman were struck as bystanders, while a man involved in the dispute was also injured.
All three victims were taken to nearby hospitals and are expected to survive. Officers emphasized that the shooting appeared to be an isolated conflict rather than a larger threat to the public.
Shoppers barricaded themselves inside stores as police secured and evacuated the building. Authorities are now reviewing surveillance footage and asking witnesses to come forward as the search for the suspect continues.
