Governor Ron DeSantis (R) of Florida stated on Tuesday that his state should serve as a “blueprint” for future politics after a string of victories in last week’s midterm elections. He went on to say that his government has been “bold throughout this whole four years,” and the results show it.

During the press conference, DeSantis refrained from attacking Trump for questions about his scheduled speech and “less than positive” comments about the governor. DeSantis, on the other hand, stated that facing “incoming heat” is a necessary part of his work and cited the numerous Republican victories in Florida last week, including his own, in which he soundly defeated Democrat Rep. Charlie Crist (D-FL) by double digits.

DeSantis called it “the largest Republican triumph in the history of the state of Florida.”

Our finest candidate for governor helped us win, but it wasn’t the only reason we were victorious. Both the Florida Senate and House elections were landslide triumphs for us. According to him, there have never been so many Republicans in office in the state before (85 out of 120 total), and now, 28 out of 40 senators are from the Republican party.

Florida Republicans went from having only 16 representatives in the House to have 20 thanks to victories at the school board level and in Congress. Those were the most he’d ever had, he said.

While noting several successes, he bemoaned “a lot of failures.”

In all candor, I think that’s the case. Given the widespread disapproval of Biden’s ideas, the speech was extremely disappointing. Many Americans are concerned about the country’s Future, but he argues Florida can set an example for the rest of the nation.

It’s possible that other states may learn from what we’ve done in Florida. After all, we won an extremely tight election. In his 2018 book, he wrote on the “very, very enormous diverse swing state” he had just moved to, noting that “all the important races governor and presidential were one point or less for that time in 2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, and 2018.”

Moreover, we were the ones who led the charge, who took the initiative, and who didn’t shrink from the most daunting of obstacles. He stated that the Chinese people profited from the governor’s efforts to combat the “Faustian dystopia” after the coronavirus epidemic in China.

He said that he had been “bold throughout these whole four years” and won over “people to vote for us who may not be in our party.”

Sure, that’s the course of action you ought to take. To win by 1.5 million votes, you need more than just the backing of your own party. He also said that among independent voters, they had a 20-30 point victory margin and that among Hispanic voters, they had a 60-40 victory margin across the state. “It’s no secret that many Republicans were there to show their support, and we’re grateful for that.”

DeSantis also spoke highly of the blue Miami-Dade victory, calling it “historic,” adding,

Besides being the “biggest most urban county in Florida,” he said, “Miami-Dade County is also 70 percent Latino.”

We were victorious for the first time in twenty years, and our margin of victory was 11%. In Miami-Dade County, it was a rout. We also took Palm Beach County, which many had written off as hopeless, and Osceola County, which hasn’t been won by a Democratic governor in over 40 years, “DeSantis stated.

Florida’s example, DeSantis said, “showed that good policies and strong leadership can ripple simply beyond your small silo, the folks that agree with you on everything.” What this suggests is that voters who would not have voted Republican in the past are now supporting DeSantis and the Republicans. That, I think, is the optimal solution.

Successful governors, in my perspective, have all used similar approaches. I believe there are situations across the country, even with Biden in the White House and the failures we’re experiencing, in which these independent people aren’t voting for our candidates. That’s the rub,” he said, using Florida as a “blueprint” once more “for the time being

“Florida, I believe, really highlights the blueprint of what you can accomplish to not just win but also fundamentally reshape the larger political battlefield in a very strong pro-freedom direction,” he concluded.
