Todd Chrisley, who was recently released from federal prison following a presidential pardon, is now speaking out about the racial disparities he claims to have observed firsthand during his sentence.
The reality TV personality, who was in attendance at a press event in Nashville, claimed that Black prisoners were routinely denied access to specific rehabilitation programs and services that he, a white inmate, received without issue. She also described the unequal treatment among inmates. “They were denied access to programming.” Access to specific items was denied to them. Chrisley stated, “I was not denied that, but we are aware of the reason why I was not.”
He characterized the experience as a pivotal moment, and he vowed to utilize his platform to reveal the systemic issues within the Bureau of Prisons. Chrisley stated that his future endeavors would involve advocating for accountability and reform within the federal corrections system.
Savannah Chrisley, his daughter, joined him in announcing the family’s commitment to advocating for change in Washington and beyond. Additionally, she verified that the Chrisleys intend to disclose additional details regarding their voyage via a new television project that is currently under development.
Todd and his wife Julie were convicted in 2022 of tax evasion and bank fraud and were serving a combined 19-year sentence before receiving pardons. Now that he is liberated, Chrisley is dedicated to utilizing his second opportunity to draw attention to the injustice that exists within prison walls.
