A 20‑year‑old Bronx father, Arius Williams, has been charged with murder and manslaughter following the death of his 2‑year‑old son, Montrell. Surveillance footage reportedly captures Williams picking up the toddler—wearing only a diaper—and hurling him over the Bruckner Bridge into the Bronx River on May 10.
Found unresponsive, Montrell’s body was later recovered from the East River near Queens. Before the tragedy, Williams allegedly threatened Montrell’s 17‑year‑old mother with a knife and admitted, “I threw that n‑a into the river.” He initially disappeared after the incident and only resurfaced weeks later, leading to a custodial interference arrest.
Williams, previously employed as a teacher’s assistant, has been held without bail since his arraignment. Prosecutors emphasize the surveillance video and Williams’s own admissions as critical evidence in the case.
