Justin Fulcher, senior adviser to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, announced his voluntary resignation after a planned six-month tenure, confirmed July 19. Fulcher praised his time at the Department of Defense as “incredibly inspiring,” citing achievements like refreshing military readiness and modernizing defense systems.
He highlighted key contributions, including revamping procurement timelines for critical software, supporting Indo-Pacific defense dialogues, and redirecting nearly $50 billion toward readiness and deterrence initiatives. Fulcher expressed gratitude to Secretary Hegseth, former President Trump, and DoD personnel, and committed to continue advocating for U.S. service members.
Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell extended appreciation on behalf of the department and wished Fulcher success in his future endeavors. His departure marks at least the sixth senior exit from Hegseth’s team since January, amid wider leadership shifts and internal restructuring at the Pentagon.
