Hadden Kelly, a 17-year-old junior at Dodge County High School in Eastman, Georgia, passed away suddenly after collapsing while participating in a homecoming prank. The incident occurred on September 15 as Kelly and friends were “TPing” a house during homecoming week.
Coroner Joe Smith, who also happens to be Kelly’s great-uncle, confirmed that Kelly was found unresponsive in the yard and was later declared dead at the scene. The exact cause of death is not yet known; an autopsy has been ordered to determine what led to the collapse.
Kelly was widely admired both on and off the golf course. He was captain of his school’s golf team, consistently placing among the top competitors in state tournaments. His dedication to the sport was clear—he worked at the local golf club and always stuck around to cheer on teammates even after finishing ahead of them in events.
The news has deeply shaken his school community. Many have taken to social media to share stories of Kelly’s kindness, leadership, and positive influence. Dodge County High School released a statement expressing heartbreak, asking those grieving to send support in thoughts and prayers to Kelly’s family and friends.
Local officials described Kelly as outgoing and compassionate—traits that made him a standout student. His loss comes as a shock to all who knew him, especially given his youthful potential and the bright future many believed lay ahead.
