Amid the fifth night of anti-ICE riots in downtown Los Angeles, Lucia Aguilar and Antonia Aguilar, the 26-year-old twin daughters of Chief Deputy Controller Rick Cole, were arrested after allegedly assaulting a police officer with a deadly weapon. The sisters were detained around 7 p.m. Sunday, during a clash where protesters reportedly threw rocks and debris from a freeway overpass onto advancing officers.
Their father, a Pasadena City Council member, publicly acknowledged their arrest during a rally, stating he was scrambling to locate them and post bond. Both were held on $50,000 bail and are scheduled to appear in court later this month.
The unrest has engulfed Los Angeles since federal immigration raids sparked clashes between demonstrators and law enforcement. In response, President Trump authorized the deployment of approximately 700 active-duty Marines and 2,000 National Guard troops to support local efforts to restore order.
The incident has drawn attention for its intersection of civic leadership and protest action, highlighting the personal impact of public unrest on government figures and their families.
