The U.S. military executed a precision strike on a high-speed vessel in international waters near Venezuela, targeting members of the Tren de Aragua criminal organization. The operation resulted in 11 fatalities and comes amid an intensified campaign to disrupt drug trafficking networks.

President Trump released footage showing the boat engulfed in flames after the strike, stressing it carried a large stash of narcotics. The Navy confirmed the mission alongside a broader deployment of naval forces to the southern Caribbean, aiming to stem the flow of drugs into the U.S.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio supported the action as part of a firm anti-cartel stance, especially against the backdrop of escalating tensions with the Maduro regime. In retaliation, Venezuela dismissed the strike footage as potentially fabricated and reiterated that any further U.S. aggression would trigger resistance.

This marks a significant escalation in Washington’s approach—moving from law enforcement to direct military engagement in the fight against international drug trafficking.
