In a recently posted video across his social media channels, Donald Trump has stepped back into the spotlight after being indicted for his alleged attempts to overturn the election. However, rather than addressing the charges directly, he opted to launch a scathing attack on President Biden and what he refers to as his “crime family.”
Deploying the term ‘Manchurian Candidate’ as his new favored insult, Trump portrayed Biden as a puppet under the influence of China, suggesting that his decisions are being dictated by the foreign nation.
In an earlier post on Tuesday, Trump took to his newly established platform, Truth Social, to demand a postponement of his trials until after the 2024 election.
Kicking off the video with a bold assertion, Trump declared, ‘There is no denying that the Biden crime family received well over $20 million from foreign countries during crooked Joe’s tenure as vice president – and likely even more; that’s just what’s been uncovered.’
Trump went on to question why Biden’s supporters have failed to provide any explanation for the actions taken by Biden, his family members, children, and even grandchildren that led to such significant financial gains.
Trump suggested that Biden might be compromised, hinting at scenarios involving bribery and blackmail. Utilizing the term ‘Manchurian Candidate,’ he implied that Biden is acting under external control.
Trump accused Biden of permitting foreign nations, particularly China, to exploit the United States due to their alleged knowledge of his financial dealings. He insinuated that China holds substantial leverage over Biden due to sizable financial contributions.
Trump criticized Biden for purportedly shutting down his initiatives aimed at countering Chinese espionage within the United States. He also claimed that Biden absolved China of responsibility for the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in the establishment of bases in Cuba and Taiwan.
He concluded by asserting, ‘The corruption within Crooked Joe’s circle poses a grave threat to national security,’ even venturing to predict a potential ‘World War Three’ under Biden’s leadership.
Promising further action, Trump proclaimed that if he were to be re-elected, he would appoint a special counsel to investigate the alleged bribes and kickbacks.
‘There is a clear effort to obstruct my path. The one contender they fear most is Donald Trump,’ he asserted.
Earlier on the same day, Trump voiced his demand that any trials be postponed until after the 2024 election.
‘All of the futile trials and cases pursued by the Biden Administration, even the local ones, should be deferred until after the 2024 Presidential Election,’ he posted on Truth Social.
‘What they are currently doing amounts to Election Interference, but if these trials were to take place before the Election, it would constitute Interference on an unprecedented scale in our nation’s history.’
Having faced his fourth indictment on Monday, Trump is now confronted with charges linked to his alleged endeavors to overturn the 2020 election, alongside 18 co-defendants, as determined by a grand jury in Georgia.
The indictment spans 98 pages, comprising 41 criminal counts. All defendants face charges of racketeering, typically employed against organized crime and carrying a minimum five-year prison term.
Trump himself faces 13 of these counts, which could potentially lead to a sentence of over 70 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
Among the indicted individuals are Mark Meadows, Trump’s former White House chief of staff, and attorneys Rudy Giuliani, Jenna Ellis, and John Eastman.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, a Democrat, contended that the defendants sidestepped Georgia’s lawful process for challenging election outcomes. Instead, they allegedly engaged in a criminal racketeering scheme to overturn the state’s presidential election results.
The deadline for Trump and the other defendants to voluntarily surrender is Friday, August 25. Willis aims to have all 19 defendants tried collectively within six months.
Judge Scott McAfee, a former prosecutor appointed by Republican Governor Brian Kemp, will preside over the case. McAfee is running for re-election next year.
Unlike federal courts, Georgia state courts allow television cameras, potentially providing the public with a chance to witness a former president’s trial live on TV as he simultaneously pursues a return to the White House.
Trump characterized the indictment as a political ‘witch hunt,’ asserting on social media that Willis seeks to obstruct his presidential ambitions. He also revealed plans to release a ‘Presidential Election Fraud’ report on Monday, asserting his innocence and shifting blame onto those he believes manipulated the election.
Since his defeat in 2020, Trump has repeatedly asserted claims of widespread election fraud, despite numerous courts, state reviews, and even some members of his own administration rejecting these claims.
Giuliani, renowned for using racketeering laws to target New York mobsters in the 1980s, branded the prosecutors in this case as ‘the true criminals.’
