Ex-President Trump Lauds Rep. Ken Buck’s Withdrawal from the 2020 Campaign

Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) has received praise from former President Donald Trump for his decision to forego running for office in 2024. Trump also called Buck a “ineffective Super RINO” and hinted that Buck might be looking into chances at CNN or MSNBC.

On his Truth Social platform, Trump praised the news, saying, “Good news for the Country! It’s excellent news for the Republican Party that Congressman Ken Buck of Colorado, a feeble and ineffectual Super RINO if there ever was one, said today that he will not be seeking office again. He was aware for a long time that he would never be able to defeat MAGA, so like some other current and former politicians, he is currently trying out for a position at CNN, MSDNC, or some other leftwing outlet that destroys country. If it’s even conceivable, they can have him and watch as their ratings drop even further!”

Rep. Buck announced on MSNBC that he will not be running for office again. He highlighted his dissatisfaction with the Republican Party’s persistent focus on storylines around the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot and claims of election fraud in 2020, as well as his disgust with Congress’s inability to address important concerns.

“I have always been disappointed with our inability in Congress to tackle major issues, and I’m also disappointed that the Republican Party continues to perpetuate the falsehood that the 2020 election was stolen, along with the January 6 narrative and the situation of political prisoners from January 6, among other things,” noted Buck.

He emphasized the need of telling the audience the truth and the necessity of facing up to hard realities and myths while dealing with complicated issues. Buck first signed the Supreme Court’s December 2020 amicus brief, which contested the 2020 presidential election’s voting procedures in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Nevertheless, on January 6, 2021, during a special congressional session, he voted to certify the election. Furthermore, Buck voted with eight other Republicans the previous month to unseat Representative Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

A major change in the political environment, reflecting both internal party dynamics and broader ideological upheavals, is the decision made by Representative Ken Buck that he will not be running for reelection in 2024.
