Trump Demands Jail or Deportation for Rep. Omar Over Fraud Claims

President Donald Trump called for criminal prosecution or deportation for Representative Ilhan Omar, saying she should face jail time or be returned to Somalia if fraud allegations against her prove true.

In recent remarks, Trump accused Omar of involvement in a scam related to housing benefits and asserted that the lawmaker’s conduct warrants legal consequences. He said that if investigations confirm improper actions, Omar should either be imprisoned or stripped of her U.S. residency and deported.

Trump’s statements emphasize accountability for public officials, particularly when they are suspected of abusing government programs. He used Omar’s case as an example of what he contends are broader problems with corruption and misuse of taxpayer funds.

Omar, who immigrated to the United States from Somalia as a child and later became a U.S. citizen and elected representative, has denied wrongdoing and said her actions have been lawful. Her legal team has insisted she complied with all requirements tied to federal benefits programs.

The controversy has drawn national attention, fueling political debate over ethics, immigration, and the standards to which elected officials should be held. Investigators and legal authorities are continuing to examine the claims to determine whether formal charges are warranted.
