President Donald Trump has reportedly authorized Ukrainian use of U.S. weapons for long-range strikes into Russia, a pivot intended to elevate pressure on Moscow.
Under consideration is the transfer of Tomahawk cruise missiles—capable of striking deep inside Russian territory—which Kyiv has long sought. Vice President JD Vance confirmed that Trump will make the final call on the matter.
Trump’s shift comes amid frustration with Russia’s refusal to negotiate. His envoy, Keith Kellogg, said there are “no sanctuaries,” signaling an expectation that long-range capabilities could reshape battlefield dynamics.
Moscow has responded cautiously, warning that escalation risks are high and questioning who would control targeting and launch operations if such weapons are handed over.
