After a grand jury in Manhattan charged him on Thursday, former President Donald Trump said that the situation showed how politics can be used to scare the people and try to stop an election.
The Manhattan district attorney’s office has filed a secret criminal charge against him. The lawsuit says that he paid Stormy Daniels $130,000 to keep her quiet. Even the New York Times wrote a story about it.
The claim is likely to become public in the next few days. At some point, Trump will have to turn himself in to the police and face the charges against him. No other US president has ever been charged with a crime.
Trump says that there has never been this “high level” of political bullying and meddling in elections before. Since I got off the golden elevator in Trump Tower, the “Radical Left Democrats” have been on a “Witch-Hunt” to stop the “Make America Great Again” movement. They call themselves the “enemy of the hardworking people in this country.”
Trump said that his first trial and the probes into his campaign’s ties to Russia put him in danger politically.
Trump said, “The Democrats have lied, cheated, and stolen in their effort to ‘Get Trump,’ but now they’ve done the unthinkable: they’ve charged a completely innocent person in a clear case of Election Interference.”
Trump says that Democrats “have cheated a lot over the years” and have even taken advantage of the court system to hurt him.
Trump says that George Soros helped Alvin Bragg’s campaign for office by giving him money. Bragg “waste[s] his time” on “Joe Biden’s dirty work,” he says, instead of looking into “the killings, burglaries, and attacks that he should be looking into to stop the unprecedented crime wave that is taking over New York City.”
As Trump has said, the Democrats’ “witch hunt” will come back to hurt them.
Before making a decision, the chief attorney told the grand jury on Thursday about the relevant criminal laws. The lawyers then went to the court clerk’s office to file the case in an official way.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the government is looking into whether or not former Playboy model Karen McDougal got $150,000.
Some people say that the ex-president is to blame for McDougal’s silence. If he has done things like this before, this could be used against him. Those who are said to have been involved in the deals might be able to say something bad about Trump.
David Pecker, who used to be the editor of the National Enquirer, said this month that Trump helped hide bad news about him when he was running for president in 2016. McDougal gave money to help with this attempt.
There is no proof that either the former president or his lawyers knew about the deal McDougal made with the money.
McDougal says they were together for a whole year, from June 2006 to April 2007. She says that the day’s events happened because of her, and they did. In March 2006, not long after Barron Trump was born, it seems that his parents started dating.
The federal government is looking into whether or not President Trump wants to stay in office after the 2020 election. The federal government and the state of Georgia are both looking into his business dealings and how he handled U.S. government papers after he left office.
