Trump claimed the prosecutor has connections to an IRS scam that occurred in 2013.
Following the unsealing of the indictment against the former president for his alleged mishandling of confidential data, former President Donald Trump lashed out at Special Counsel Jack Smith, calling him a “deranged lunatic.”
Trump posted a picture of Smith on his Truth Social app and accused the prosecutor of orchestrating the 2013 scandal in which it was revealed that the IRS had disproportionately audited conservative political groups.
This individual is responsible for the disastrous Lois Lerner IRS situation. Evangelicals and other “Great Americans of Faith” were his targets. U.S. taxpayers were forced to foot the bill for the extensive damage caused by this “deranged lunatic,” Trump tweeted.
Lerner played a pivotal role in the IRS scandal, and in 2014, senators voted to punish her in contempt of Congress for failing to provide adequate testimony.
Trump used former Republican governor of Virginia Robert McDonnell’s conviction for corruption as ammunition in his assault on Smith. Smith was successful in getting him convicted, but the Supreme Court eventually overturned his conviction.
The Supreme Court ruled against him in a unanimous decision. Both he and his wife are Trump haters; she is a crazed “psycho” who has no place in matters of “justice,” except perhaps in the context of viewing Joe Biden as a criminal, which he is. Donald Trump had written something.
Trump was accused of obstructing justice and mishandling classified materials. Walt Nauta, one of his assistants, was also indicted on six counts of obstruction and concealment.
The ex-president has denied any wrongdoing and called this probe, as well as others probing his actions, politicized witch hunts.
On Friday afternoon, Smith addressed the cameras and emphasized the “gravity” of the acts.
Smith announced that an indictment against Trump had been unsealed, accusing him of conspiring to obstruct justice and breaking federal statutes related to national security. “In this country, the law is the same for everyone.”
