Former President Donald Trump has issued a scathing critique of GOP presidential opponent Vivek Ramaswamy, calling the biotech multimillionaire “not MAGA” in a post on his social media platform, Truth Social. In his message, Trump accused Ramaswamy of deceptive campaign tactics, alleging that he initially portrayed himself as a strong supporter of Trump before shifting his strategy.
Ramaswamy, who has previously expressed admiration for Trump, faced criticism from the former president for his campaign approach. Trump warned his followers not to be “duped” by Ramaswamy, claiming that a vote for him would be a vote for the “other side.” He urged his supporters to vote for him instead, emphasizing the need to not waste their votes.
The attack on Ramaswamy came just days after the latter filed an amicus brief at the Supreme Court in support of Trump’s efforts to remain on state ballots. Ramaswamy argued against disqualifying Trump from ballots under the Fourteenth Amendment, stating that such actions were politically motivated and would set a dangerous precedent.
According to a recent Suffolk University survey, Trump leads the Iowa GOP presidential caucuses with 54% support, while Ramaswamy holds 6%. Nikki Haley, former U.N. Ambassador in the Trump administration, follows with 20% support, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis trails at 13%.
Ramaswamy’s campaign office has not yet responded to the accusations made by Trump. This development highlights the intensifying competition within the Republican Party as the 2024 presidential race gains momentum.
