In a significant diplomatic development, the Kremlin has confirmed that President Trump and President Putin are scheduled to meet within the next few days. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov stated that arrangements are underway for a high-level bilateral summit, with the United Arab Emirates among the likely venues, though location details remain pending.

This will mark the first in-person gathering between U.S. and Russian leaders since the 2021 summit in Geneva. Sources indicate that the meeting follows constructive talks between Putin and Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, and signals a renewed push to address the ongoing Ukraine conflict. President Trump emphasized his flexibility in pursuing the meeting, stating he was open to engaging with Putin even if Ukrainian President Zelenskyy was not present.

The announcement sparked immediate reactions in global markets—Russian equities rose, and the ruble strengthened—highlighting the geopolitical and economic weight of the summit. President Zelenskyy, meanwhile, reaffirmed Europe’s essential role in any peace process and warned against sidelining Ukraine in future negotiations.
