Trump Plans on Attending Mother-in-Law’s Funeral Despate Judges Refusal

Donald Trump, the former president, declared that he would be skipping the current E. Jean Carroll trial in order to attend his mother-in-law’s burial. During a recent news conference, Trump voiced his displeasure with the judge, deeming it an insensitive decision to refuse to postpone the court proceedings.

Melania Trump’s mother Amalija Knavs, 78, departed from this life last week. The trial dates conflict with the funeral, which is set for Palm Beach, Florida. Trump berated Clinton appointment Lewis A. Kaplan, the judge, for being insensitive to and unaccommodating of his commitments to his family.

After spending a day in court, Trump said at a New York City press conference, “It’s disgusting that the judge would not grant me a one-day extension so I could attend my mother-in-law’s burial before continuing the trial. The trial or family is up for grabs, and I go with family.”

This came to light during Carroll’s defamation damages trial resulting from her lawsuit alleging that in the 1990s, Trump had sexually attacked her in a department store dressing room. The trial comes after a federal jury’s ruling in May, which ordered Trump to pay $5 million and held him guilty for defamation and sexual abuse but not for rape.

Carroll, 80, claims that in or around 1996, there was an attack at Bergdorf Goodman, which is close to Trump Tower in Manhattan. She is suing for an additional $10 million in punitive damages and argues that the incident seriously damaged her reputation and career.

Trump said that he would testify in his defense, saying, “I plan to explain that I don’t recognize this woman at all.” Trump has angrily refuted the accusations. Carroll’s charges are unfounded, he has constantly maintained, attributing them to promotional efforts for her book.

The former president’s choice to put his family before the trial has drawn notice, highlighting the complicated personal and public life he leads. Testimonies are expected to begin during the trial, which will be overseen by Judge Kaplan, and last three to five days.
