The campaign for former President Donald Trump said Friday that in the 24 hours since he was charged by a Manhattan grand jury, he has raised more than $4 million for his run for president.
A news release from the campaign of the former president said, “This incredible surge of contributions from the public shows that the American people see the indictment of President Trump as a disgraceful use of our justice system as a weapon by a Soros-funded prosecutor.”
More than 25% of the gifts came from people who had never given to Trump before. The average giving was $34.
“Donations to President Trump’s campaign came in from all 50 states in the first five hours after the fake indictment,” the campaign said.
Just minutes after the charge came out on Thursday, the Trump campaign sent out an email asking for money for the 76-year-old’s campaign in 2024.
It was the first of more than six emails that the Trump team sent to raise money in the 24 hours after he was indicted.
The former president’s campaign sent out a news release that said, “This incredible surge of grassroots contributions proves that the American people see the indictment of President Trump as a disgraceful use of our justice system as a weapon by a prosecutor funded by Soros.”
In one pitch, Trump said that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s “witch hunt” would “blow up in his face in a big way.”
“The corrupt ruling class has been trying to shut down our America First movement ever since I ran for president as a complete political outsider,” the email said.
“The Deep State will do anything they can to stop the one political movement that puts you first.”
Bragg’s case against Trump is based on an alleged “hush money” payment that Trump’s longtime fixer, Michael Cohen, made to porn star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election to keep her quiet about an alleged affair with Trump in 2006.
Friday, sources told The Post that Trump is being charged with at least one crime that could get him up to four years in jail.
Trump has strongly denied that Daniels did anything wrong and that he had an affair with her.
