Trump Rally Goes Silent After Barb At DeSantis

Trump said that DeSantis had begged for his support in the run-up to the 2018 election.

During a recent campaign rally, former President Donald Trump attacked Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a possible Republican primary opponent, with no response from the crowd.

At his campaign rally in Waco, Texas on Saturday, Trump impersonated DeSantis and claimed that the latter had begged him to back him in the 2018 Republican primary in Florida to increase his chances of becoming governor.

He finally showed up, and he was eager to get [my recommendation]. ‘You can’t win, can you?’ I said. If you want to win, how do you do it? Trump reportedly stated when thinking back on his chat with DeSantis. If you support me, Sir, I will be victorious. Please, sir, I beg of you, endorse me. Trump went on while acting out a pitiful, pleading tone.

People at Trump’s rallies usually cheer when he takes shots at his opponents, but when he targeted DeSantis, they were notably quieter. The crowd’s reaction was far more muted when Trump went after other targets, such as the mainstream media, although some could be heard laughing or cheering as he continued to be critical of DeSantis.

DeSantis, who has not yet officially announced a run for president in 2024, is widely seen as Trump’s chief Republican primary adversary. Many political observers believe that DeSantis might be a serious contender to Trump because of his rising national profile and popularity in the crucial swing state of Florida, where he just won reelection in a landslide.

This has led to an increase in Trump’s criticism of DeSantis in recent weeks, and it was evident at the Waco celebration for the former president.

You’re the one who gets him nominated. You’re the reason he gets elected. Two years later, the imposter is still standing, asking the president, “Will you run against me?” Do you intend to make a quick getaway? And he responds, ‘I have no comment,'” Trump claimed of DeSantis, after claiming that he was almost out of the race before Trump endorsed him.

While criticizing the Florida governor for his handling of the COVID-19 outbreak, Trump also criticized DeSantis for his history of trying to cut Social Security payments while he was a member of Congress.

Additionally, Obama stated that Florida was doing OK before DeSantis assumed the government.

Remember one thing: Florida has been incredibly successful for many years, long before this person became governor,” Trump stated. “Florida was incredibly successful under Rick Scott’s administration… Whether you support the Republican party or not, you can’t deny Charlie Crist’s accomplishments. But Florida has been prosperous for a long time—possibly even longer than it is today.

Fox News sought comment from DeSantis’ office but did not receive a prompt response.
