Trump Says Hunter Biden Discovery ‘100 Times Bigger Than Watergate’

Former President Donald Trump spoke at the Faith & Freedom Coalition’s Road to Majority gala on Saturday night in Washington, D.C. He made an analogy between President Biden’s perceived inaction on China’s purported plan to set up a spy facility in Cuba and the new discoveries involving Hunter Biden’s business transactions.

Trump brought up the IRS whistleblower’s claim that the government had obtained a 2017 WhatsApp communication between Hunter Biden and Henry Zhao, CEO of Harvest Fund Management, saying that the chat was leaked to the media. Hunter was putting pressure on Zhao, according to the exchange, by bringing up his father’s participation. Trump recapped the conversation, recalling how Hunter stressed the importance of his directives and threatened action if they weren’t carried out.

It was revealed shortly after the message was sent that approximately $5 million had been transferred to an account associated with Hunter Biden.

Donald Trump made a disparaging remark: “I didn’t know he was that tough!” He then made the connection between these disclosures and President Biden’s supposed indifference to rumors that China was about to set up a spy post in Cuba. Trump hypothesized that the Bidens’ apparent lack of worry about future military bases was due to the large sums of money they got from China.

In a recent interview, Trump called Vice President Joe Biden a “compromised president,” implying that Biden’s prior financial ties could affect his policy judgments. He said that Biden’s silence on the issue was just as bad as Nixon’s during the Watergate crisis.

The Biden administration denied the claims, saying the controversy predates their presidency and that the reported agreement ran counter to their knowledge. An administration official did not directly address the allegations of a Chinese spy base in Cuba but did acknowledge China’s broader aspirations to extend its global information collection infrastructure.

The attorney representing Hunter Biden has replied to the whistleblower charges by calling them false, biased, and politically motivated. The attorney expressed doubt about the reliability of the leaked document and warned against basing decisions on its contents.

In addition, Trump brought up an earlier issue caused by Biden, in which he called Chinese President Xi Jinping a “dictator” during a discussion about the shooting down of a Chinese surveillance balloon over U.S. territory. Trump suggested that if China persevered with its purported intentions for the suspected espionage station, he would impose significant taxes on the country.

These things and these claims did not happen to my knowledge as of September 2021.
