President Donald Trump told reporters that there is a “good shot” at achieving peace between Russia and Ukraine as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visits the United States.

Trump framed the current diplomatic moment as a meaningful opportunity to advance negotiations aimed at ending the prolonged conflict in Eastern Europe. He expressed optimism that talks could gain momentum while both countries’ leaders are in Washington, highlighting the importance of direct engagement at the highest level.

The president’s comments came ahead of scheduled meetings and discussions between U.S. officials and the Ukrainian delegation. Trump emphasized that the United States intends to play a central role in facilitating dialogue and supporting a peaceful resolution.

Zelensky’s visit includes engagements with senior U.S. policymakers and participation in strategic discussions intended to address security, economic support, and ongoing humanitarian concerns tied to the war.

Trump also underscored the challenges ahead, noting that securing a peace agreement will require compromise from all parties. Nonetheless, he characterized the timing of Zelensky’s visit as advantageous, saying it creates a unique window for diplomatic progress.

The administration has not released specifics of any proposed peace framework but indicated that both U.S. and Ukrainian teams are focused on exploring actionable steps that could reduce hostilities and lead toward a negotiated settlement.

Trump’s remarks underscore the United States’ ongoing diplomatic involvement as global leaders work to bring an end to the conflict that has shaped European security dynamics for years.
