Former President Donald Trump has received another significant endorsement in his bid to return to the White House. Republican South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem endorsed Trump for President of the United States and pledged her full support to help him win.
At a political event in Rapid City, South Dakota, Governor Noem introduced Trump and officially endorsed his candidacy. She referred to him as both the 45th and 47th President of the United States, fueling speculation about her potential role in his campaign. Some have speculated that Trump may consider Noem as a potential running mate, especially as her endorsement appears to signal the end of her own presidential ambitions for 2024.
During a Fox News interview, Noem stated that she and Trump had not discussed the possibility of her becoming his vice-presidential pick, but she did not rule out the idea, saying, “I’d have to consider it.” She emphasized the importance of defending constitutional freedoms, suggesting that she would be open to the role if offered.
Trump praised Noem during the event, calling her “one of the most successful governors in the entire nation” and expressing his honor at receiving her endorsement.
Governor Noem had previously considered a 2024 White House run but has since voiced her belief that Trump is the strongest candidate for the GOP nomination. She emphasized Trump’s record and popularity within the party, stating, “I feel pretty confident that President Trump will be the Republican nominee for president.”
Noem joins a list of Republican governors who have already endorsed Trump, including South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster, West Virginia Governor Jim Justice, and Alaska Governor Mike Dunleavy.
Trump’s campaign continues to gain momentum, even amid legal challenges and controversies related to his recent indictments. His ability to secure prominent endorsements further solidifies his position as a leading contender for the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential election.
