President Donald Trump expressed optimism Sunday, saying there is “a real chance for greatness” in the Middle East as he prepares to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House for Gaza peacemaking talks.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said all parties are “on board for something special” and voiced confidence that a deal can be reached. He called the upcoming meeting an important step in attempting to negotiate a ceasefire and resolve the war in Gaza.
Officials said the 20-point peace proposal recently released was a key topic in the lead-up to the summit. While Israel has already expressed support for the framework, Hamas has yet to formally back it.
Trump’s comments underscore growing pressure to find a diplomatic solution amid intense military exchanges and humanitarian strains across the region.
